Any Reading, Mass. resident or family in need can visit the Reading Food Pantry for a one-time visit. For ongoing support, clients must be referred in by the town case manager.
The Reading Food Pantry is open to serve clients on Mondays from 6.30-7.30pm, and Fridays from 10.30-11.30am. Prior to the start of each month, we publish a calendar schedule. For one week, we serve clients with last names beginning with A-J, and for the next, we serve clients with last names beginning K-Z. We are open for the first four weeks each month and closed on holidays or when schools are closed (for example, for a snow day). For our latest calendar, visit our Facebook page.
You can drop donations in the donation bins at Stop & Shop and Market Basket in Reading, during store hours. We also accept donations at the Reading Food Pantry at 6 Salem St., Reading (come to the rear of the building) on Wednesdays from 4.30-6pm.
We accept donations via PayPal or check. You can make checks payable to Reading Food Pantry and mail to 6 Salem St., Reading, Mass., 01867. We are a 501c(3) registered non-profit, so your donation may be tax deductible.
Great! You can contact us if you’d like a list of current needs, or you could consider a themed drive (such as school lunches, pet food, or health & beauty). Once your drive is complete, we’ll work with you to schedule a time for drop off. We are happy to promote your food drive on our Facebook page.
Many of our clients rely on SNAP benefits for grocery shopping. SNAP benefits cannot be used for household items like laundry detergent, or for health & beauty items like toothpaste, or paper goods. There is a great need for these items, so they are part of our assistance.
Due to COVID-19, the Reading Food Pantry is currently serving clients via drive-through service. Enter via the Salem St. entrance and proceed to the back of the building. A volunteer will come to your vehicle with an order form. Clients are served in order of arrival.
